The wine has a medium purple core, with a bright ruby edge. The wine moves elegantly within the glass, and yet is very concentrated, staining the walls of the glass, where its aroma of perfume, violets, and candied raspberries leap out of the glass. The palate has a pleasing balance between red fruits, earth, some herbs, and perhaps a trace of licorice. The mouthfeel of the wine has a Burgundian silkiness to it, with rolling tannins that carefully caressed the tongue, matched with just the right amount of acidity. The finish is clean and long with dusty tannins on the back end. The freshness of the fruit matched with the minerality and acidity, straddling the line between the new and old world. This wine needs a long time to open up, but it has a lot to give. A real treat that provides a glimpse into what can be expected from the Domaine version
